Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.76%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.72%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Worldline SA (PA:WLN), which rose 4.99% or 3.68 points to trade at 77.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (PA:SAF) added 1.48% or 1.75 points to end at 120.20 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 1.14% or 0.70 points to 62.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which fell 3.98% or 0.41 points to trade at 9.91 at the close. Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) declined 4.00% or 3.27 points to end at 78.52 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was down 3.49% or 1.27 points to 35.09.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Worldline SA (PA:WLN) which rose 4.99% to 77.50, Mercialys SA (PA:MERY) which was up 3.57% to settle at 7.26 and Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which gained 2.07% to close at 49.20.

The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 7.37% to 4.15 in late trade, Orange SA (PA:ORAN) which lost 3.98% to settle at 9.91 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) which was down 4.00% to 78.52 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 382 to 208 and 74 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 20.27.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.48% or 8.85 to $1846.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.30% or 0.14 to hit $46.64 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.25 to trade at $50.00 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.20% to 1.2112, while EUR/GBP rose 0.57% to 0.9180.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 90.993.
